Mushroomunity – A Community of Mushroom Enthusiasts
Mushroomunity is a community of mushroom enthusiasts seeking to inspire a love of mycology and provide knowledge for the home grower. This community aims to offer you everything you need to know about mushrooms, including growing, foraging, and cooking fungi. In addition to growing guides, foraging tips, and recipes, you can also look forward to learning about unique mushroom types and the health benefits of adding mushrooms to your diet. While others may be afraid of mushrooms, we are mad for mushrooms. If you love mushrooms as much as we do, or you’re interested in learning a bit more, check out the relaxed and nature-focused group.
Main Team
Matt Baird – Website Manager
Matthew Baird is the Website Manager for Mushroomunity and a graduate of St. Lawrence College, where he studied Business Administration. After working in Accounting for ten years, he decided to change gears and dive into the world of mushrooms with an Introduction to Mycology course through the University of Victoria. Matthew is a hockey fan, music-junky, and outdoorsman. His vegan lifestyle exposed him to mushrooms, which spurred a love of fungi, including adding mushrooms to his urban garden. His favourite mushrooms include lobster, cauliflower, and maitake.
Rachel Baird – Managing Editor
Rachel Baird is the Managing Editor for Mushroomunity and a graduate of Queens University, where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She has written work published on multiple websites and specializes in nature and gardening. Rachel is an urban gardener, passionate vegan, and mushroom enthusiast. Her favourite mushrooms are oyster, portobello, and chicken of the woods.
